Police say two people were arrested for impaired driving after a pair of weekend crashes in Saint John.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police say two trucks collided at King and Germain streets uptown.
The crash caused “substantial” damage to the trucks, as well as a fire hydrant and a utility pole, said police.
A 55-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving and later released from custody with a court date.
There was a 46-year-old man and a 10-year-old child in the other truck. No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 1 at Exit 114 to Grand Bay-Westfield just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
“A truck had allegedly been driving erratically before it left the highway striking a pole and coming to rest in a ditch,” police said in a news release.
The driver reportedly left on foot and was found walking on Route 7. He was arrested for impaired driving and later released with a court day in May.
The man was also issued a ticket for leaving the scene of a collision. No injuries were reported.
