Representatives from more than 100 New Brunswick companies are beginning their week in Boston.
They are taking part in the 2023 Seafood Expo North America, the largest expo of its kind on the continent.
Thousands of buyers and suppliers from more than 100 countries meet to do business at the event each year.
Most of New Brunswick’s seafood producers, harvester associations and industry service providers will be represented, according to the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries.
“I look forward to showcasing our seafood to buyers from around the world,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Margaret Johnson, who will lead the delegation.
“Our seafood is currently sold to more than 50 countries around the world. We are working every day to deliver high-quality seafood while championing sustainable practices.”
Figures provided by the province show seafood export sales reached $1.8 billion in 2022, making the industry a “significant contributor” to the province’s economy.
Highlights from the past year include considerable market diversification for lobster sales and growth in the value of salmon sales.
