There will not be any outdoor skating on Lily Lake in Rockwood Park this year, the city announced Tuesday.
Officials said the outdoor skating rink will not open due to thin ice and increasingly warmer temperatures.
“To allow public access, the ice needs to be a minimum of 12 inches thick to support machinery that is used to maintain the skating surface,” the city said in a Facebook post.
According to the city, the ice never reached that thickness this year, resulting in the decision to keep the rink closed.
