Three people are in custody and a woman is in the hospital after an early morning shooting in west Saint John.
Saint John police say they were called to the parking lot of a north end business around 3 a.m. Friday.
Officers found a 20-year-old woman who they believe was injured during a shooting on Watson Street West.
“The 20-year-old woman was transported from the scene and remains in hospital at this time,” police said in a news release Friday morning.
They did not say how the woman ended up in the north end or provide any detail on the extent of her injuries.
A short time later, police said they located a suspect vehicle on Main Street North and began pursuing it.
“The pursuit ended on Old Black River Road where a 32-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested and remain in custody at this time,” said the release.
Officers believed at least one suspect fled into the woods, prompting them to establish a perimeter and search the area.
Around 6 a.m. Friday, police asked the public to avoid the area due to an “ongoing police investigation.”
A 34-year-old man was later arrested at a residence in the area, according to police.
“Police believe that this was an isolated incident and the parties involved are known to each other,” said the release.
Two of the individuals were scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon.
The investigation has concluded at Old Black River Road.
Major Crime will continue to investigate the incident.
