First-round matches have been set for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The Saint John Sea Dogs will face the Gatineau Olympiques as they compete for the Gilles-Courteau Trophy.
The series will be played in a 2-3-2 format due to the distance between the cities, the league announced Sunday.
Gatineau will host the first two games on Friday and Saturday. Games three and four will take place in Saint John next Tuesday and Wednesday.
If needed, game five will take place in Saint John next Friday, followed by games six and seven in Gatineau the following week.
Saint John (24-38-5-1) ended the regular season with 54 points, good for 16th place in the league standings. Gatineau (49-12-5-2) was fourth in the league standings with 105 points.
The two teams faced off twice during regular season play and each picked up a win.
Other first-round series include Moncton versus Baie-Comeau, Halifax versus Cape Breton, and Charlottetown versus Quebec.
