Mounties are warning of an online buy-and-sell furniture scam making the rounds in the Saint Andrews area.
Police received several complaints about people falling victim to the scam between March 27 and April 6.
The seller listed various household furniture items ranging from $150 to $450 on social media buy-and-sell pages.
Victims are asked to pay in advance, according to investigators, and were given real addresses of people who were not involved in the scam.
“The seller stops responding to all communication once money has been received and the buyer tries to make arrangements for pick up,” Mounties said in a news release on Wednesday.
RCMP said the seller involved in the scam has gone by the names Paige Kenny and Kathleen Bird.
Anyone who has information or has had dealing with the seller is asked to contact Saint Andrews RCMP at 506-755-1130.
If you feel you have been a victim, police say you should report it to police and on the social media platform you are using.
Victims should also notify their financial institution immediately if they suspect a fraudulent sale or transaction.
