If you have had something stolen from your vehicle in recent months, you are far from alone.
Saint John police reported a 72 per cent spike in thefts from vehicles between January and April.
It has prompted the municipal police force to issue a warning and offer some tips to help keep your belongings safe.
Police said you should always roll up your windows and lock your vehicle when you are not in it.
Make sure to place valuable objects or packages out of sight, such as in your trunk.
As well, park in well-lit areas whenever possible, do not leave your keys in your car, and do not leave your vehicle running unattended.
