Parts of southern New Brunswick could be in for quite a bit of rain Saturday night into Sunday.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for several areas, including:
- Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County
- Saint John and County
- St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County
- Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County
The national weather agency said rain will start late Saturday evening to near midnight and taper to scattered showers on Sunday afternoon.
Between 40 and 60 millimetres of rain could fall, with the potential for higher amounts in areas of heaviest rain.
Forecasters said residents living in low-lying areas could experience localized flooding as a result.
Other parts of New Brunswick will also see some rain, but totals are not expected to reach warning criteria.
Between 25 and 40 millimetres is forecast for the Fredericton area, along with Stanley, Doaktown, Blackville, Sunbury County, Queens County and Carleton County.
Most other areas, including Greater Moncton, will see 10 to 15 millimetres of rain. Northwestern regions of the province are only expected to see around five millimetres.
