Spectators looked to the sky over the weekend, but unfortunately, all they saw were grey low-lying clouds on Saturday and rain on Sunday.
That prevented the CF Snowbirds from taking flight for the Soldier On Air Display in Greater Moncton.
The planes were expected to fly over the Petitcodiac River at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
But at around 3:30 p.m. the performance was called off due to cloud cover remaining too low at 500 feet.
Thousands of spectators had gathered along the Riverfront.
On Sunday, the performance was cancelled at around 2:30 p.m. due to rainy and cloudy conditions.
On social media, Captain Gabriel Ferris of the CF Snowbirds said, “We sadly have to cancel our Sunday performance in Moncton-Dieppe due to the bad weather. Thank you all for your patience over the weekend.”
The Skyhawks Parachute Team were also forced to call off their jumps due to the cloudy and wet conditions.
The Soldier On military equipment display went ahead on Friday and Saturday in Dieppe and Moncton. It raises money for ill and injured members of the Canadian Armed Forces using sport and physical recreational activities.
Last year, the CF Snowbirds were forced to cancel their performance in Moncton, due to technical issues with the planes.
The next stop on the CF Snowbirds tour is Gander, Newfoundland on June 21.
They also have stops planned in Cavendish and Charlottetown, P.E.I., in July.
