Teachers at Bernice MacNaughton High School in Moncton think they have what it takes to win the teachers’ edition of Family Feud Canada.
Five of them have submitted a video in the hopes of being chosen for the upcoming season.
Music teacher Rebecca Moore saw the ad for auditions on social media and immediately jumped into action.
She knew the producers often like a backstory for audition videos, “I have a pretty elaborate back story with our school here. I was a former student and our other music teacher Linda Touchie, who is also a member of our Family Feud Team, is actually the music teacher that inspired me to become a music teacher. So we thought they might find that interesting. Steve Cormier was also one of my former teachers. We also have Teacher Eric Matheson, we went to school together at the same time, different grad years but both students at the same time and Guidance Counsellor Lindsay Dominie, another great staff member.”
The hope is to compete and win money to support their theatre renovation project.
Cormier is the media education teacher at Bernice MacNaughton and he put the audition video together, “Rebecca converted the Fresh Prince lyrics for her story, and she ended up recording herself, and that dictated some of the shots. Then we had to go around and film filler shots for the instrumental sections. So there’s a crazy number of shots in that video that we gathered over two or three sessions. I ended up editing the video because that’s kind of my wheelhouse.”
Moore added that Cormier did an amazing job and is hoping the students all check it out!

Recordings of the Family Feud Canada shows are expected to be scheduled between August and October, so the team expects they’ll hear soon as to whether or not they’ve been chosen.
The deadline for applications is June 30th.
Cormier is confident they’ll be chosen, “If we don’t get a callback, I just don’t know what. I’m one of those people that likes celebrating our school and if I can do that on a national stage, that’s just a feather in our cap. I also like winning, so let’s go!”
Moore adds they included their students in the video as well, “I hope they see how much we care about the school and trying to provide the best auditorium and resources for them. We’re not afraid to put ourselves out there to do that for them.”
They’re hoping you’ll check out the audition video, share it and like it, and support the team when they appear on Family Feud Canada-Teachers Edition in the fall if they’re chosen. They all have their fingers crossed!
