There will be no shortage of pink on Thursday night at Memorial Field in Saint John.
The Saint John Alpines baseball team will host their third annual Pink in the Park event.
It is a fundraiser for the Breast Health Trust Fund at the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
Andrea Scott, marketing and community engagement coordinator, said the fund provides support for local breast cancer patients.
“There may be items that they need that they can’t afford and that’s what this trust fund is for to help women right here in our community,” Scott said in an interview.
Over the past two years, Pink in the Park has raised just over $1,600 for the Breast Health Trust Fund.
Terre Hunter, president of the Saint John Alpines, said they are proud to support the hospital foundation.
“It’s a fun thing, but it’s very important to the guys to know that we’re giving back to the community,” said Hunter.
“Of the 20 guys on the team, several of them have been closely touched by cancer.”
The Alpines will sport their pink team jerseys, and fans are also encouraged to wear pink. One lucky fan will also take home the pink game bat.
Scott said there will also be a 50/50 draw, a raffle, and prizes donated by sponsors of the senior baseball team.
Game time against the Fredericton Royals is 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7, with kids under 12 getting in for free.
