Mounties say they have recovered a number of items that were stolen from across Charlotte County.
There was a heavy police presence at a property on Route 785 in Utopia on Tuesday morning.
RCMP said they were executing a search warrant in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Police found a boat and trailer, industrial and commercial power tools and batteries, rolls of copper wire, marine equipment, firearm ammunition, edged weapons, oxygen and propane tanks, and electronics.
“The recovered items are believed to be associated to a number of previously reported thefts on both Deer Island and the mainland areas of Charlotte County,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.
A 35-year-old man, who is already in custody in connection with the investigation, is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Sgt. Chris Henderson said it is important for people to report property crime and stolen items to police as soon as possible.
“Often times, police can associate recovered property with the theft in which it was taken and return it to its owner,” Henderson said in a news release.
“Unfortunately, when it is not reported, it can be harder for the police to determine where suspected stolen property came from.”
