Saint John police have IDed a person who allegedly impersonated a police officer.
It turns out the man was actually a police officer from another part of the province.
Police were contacted about a “suspicious” traffic stop that happened along Route 1 on July 26.
A driver reported being pulled over by an unmarked older model vehicle with a set of red and blue lights in the windshield.
“The operator approached the complainant, yelled at him about speeding, got back into his vehicle and drove off,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.
At the time, police said they had confirmed that the traffic stop was not initiated by Saint John police or any other policing agency in the neighbouring jurisdictions.
They now say the operator of the vehicle was a police officer from another unidentified area of the province.
“The Saint John Police are now satisfied that there is no concern for public safety and no criminal charges are anticipated,” police said in an updated release on Thursday.
