Saint John police will be cracking down on aggressive driving over the coming days.
The week-long traffic campaign will see officers target several types of moving offences.
They include tailgating, unsafe lane changes, road rage, ignoring signage, running lights, and speeding.
According to Transport Canada, speeding was a factor in nearly one-quarter of all motor vehicle fatalities in Canada in 2021.
Drivers are reminded to follow the speed limit, minimize lane changes, allow other drivers to merge or change lanes, use turn signals, maintain adequate following distance, avoid distractions while behind the wheel, and slow down in construction zones.
Police said drivers convicted of moving offences can face fines and a loss of demerit points. Those fines are doubled in construction zones.
The traffic campaign began on Monday and continues through Friday.
