A former supply teacher and YouTuber is facing 33 new charges in an ongoing sexual assault investigation.
Stephen Blackwood was charged Friday with sexual assault, sexual interference, and 31 counts of voyeurism.
The 37-year-old man remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date, according to the RCMP.
Blackwood was first arrested last November after Fredericton police received reports of a man filming children at four hotel pools. He was charged at the time with sexual assault, sexual interference, and assault.
In December, he was arrested by Codiac Regional RCMP for allegedly breaching the conditions of his release order.
Blackwood was later charged with sexual assault and sexual interference following an incident at a school in November 2022.
“Throughout the investigation, it was learned that the man had committed similar offences in the Moncton region and surrounding areas dating back to 2018,” Mounties said in a news release.
Police have alleged that Blackwood frequented the Shediac Wharf throughout the summer of 2022 and asked children if they would perform a dance for his YouTube channel, where he is known as “Blamzooka.”
Similar incidents were also reported at Magic Mountain dating back to 2018, and police said Blackwood also went to Parlee Beach, as well as hotel pools and other public pools such as the YMCA and the Dieppe Aquatic and Sports Centre.
Blackwood was also a supply teacher at several schools in the Anglophone East School District between Oct. 26 and Nov. 4, 2022.
