A success story out of Cocagne, New Brunswick.
Angele Miller and her business partner Patti Shaker presented their Hair Salon and Glow Out Bar Franchise in the Dragon’s Den.
“We know a lot of Canadians love the Dragon’s Den show. For us as entrepreneurs, we saw that as a really good opportunity to, spread the word about what we’re doing and have Canadians see what it is that we’re doing as a business. So for us initially, it was kind of a marketing opportunity to put the word out of what we’re doing and have millions of Canadians learn about us,” Miller says.
Inca Glow has been around for seven years, but Miller and Shaker focused on their new Glow Out bar, a salon concept for the show.
They received offers from four of six entrepreneurs, “We felt like screaming on TV. We asked for all of the offers to be repeated, but that didn’t air on the show. We were just trying to absorb what was happening. One of the Producers said it is really rare to get four dens out of six putting offers forward. It was a very surreal moment and experience. We were just very, very happy but not something we would have ever expected,” Miller adds
Arlene Dickinson and Wes Hall agreed to partner and made a deal to invest.
Miller says they’ve already met with their firms and have progressed to finalize the contracts, but there’s still work to be done with the Dragons.
“I’ve been watching the show for years as an entrepreneur, and I find them inspiring. We all have dreams and it’s nice to see people pushing their dreams like that and trying to reach for the stars and make things happen. I’m from a very small town, Cocagne, and you can still achieve big things. I definitely recommend the show to anyone that just wants to see what’s new and hot or ideas coming out in Canada,” Miller says.
