New Brunswick’s COVID-19 indicators remained steady during the final week of October, according to Public Health
The latest Respiratory Watch report shows 57 admissions between Oct. 22 and 28, with one person admitted to an intensive care unit.
That was compared to 58 hospitalizations and one ICU admission the previous week.
A majority of the patients — 46 of them — were aged 65 and over. There were also nine people aged 45 to 65 and two people aged 20 to 44.
The ICU admission involved one patient between the ages of 45 and 65, according to Public Health.
Three more patients with COVID died in the hospital during that week, compared to four the previous week. All three were aged 65 and over.
There were 128 new COVID cases reported — down from 137 cases the previous week — and the test positivity rate fell to 14 per cent.
However, the actual number of new cases is likely much higher as PCR tests are only available when requested by a primary care provider.
In addition, there were 12 lab-confirmed COVID outbreaks reported, including two in nursing homes. That was down from 14 lab-confirmed outbreaks at week before.
