Most of New Brunswick’s COVID-19 indicators saw slight decreases heading into November, according to Public Health.
The latest Respiratory Watch report shows 52 hospitalizations between Oct. 29 and Nov. 4, with four people admitted to an intensive care unit.
That was compared to 57 hospital admissions and one ICU admission the previous week.
A majority of the patients — 42 of them — were aged 65 and over. There were also nine people aged 45 to 65 and one person under the age of five.
The ICU admission involved three patients aged 65 and over and one between the ages of 45 and 64, according to Public Health.
Two more patients with COVID died in the hospital during that week, compared to three the previous week. One person was between the ages of 20 and 44 while the other was aged 65 and over.
There were 114 new COVID cases reported — down from 128 cases the previous week — and the test positivity rate fell to 12 per cent.
However, the actual number of new cases is likely much higher as PCR tests are only available when requested by a primary care provider.
In addition, there were 11 lab-confirmed COVID outbreaks reported, including four in nursing homes. That was down from 12 lab-confirmed outbreaks at week before.
