A man is now facing charges after a weekend shooting in Sussex led to an emergency alert.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at a business on Main Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.
“While on the way to the scene, a member reported hearing an additional shot fired,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.
One person was taken to the hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Just before 2 a.m., RCMP issued an emergency alert, asking residents in the Sussex area to stay in their homes with their doors locked.
Police arrested the suspect behind a business on Main Street around 2:30 a.m. and cancelled the alert.
A 19-year-old man from Oromocto is now facing seven weapons-related charges. He was remanded into custody and has a bail hearing set for Wednesday.
