Saint John police have made two arrests in connection with fraudulent purchases of tires from local businesses.
Throughout the month, police have received calls of several high-dollar purchases for tires made at local businesses using fraudulent credit cards.
On November 16th, a 31-year-old woman was arrested for attempting to pick up an order of tires at a local business using a rental truck with false identification.
She appeared in court the next day and was charged with identity theft.
The woman pled guilty and was placed on a six-month conditional sentence and ordered to leave New Brunswick after November 20th.
On November 20th, the same woman along with a 26-year-old man returned to another business to pick up tires that were allegedly purchased using a fraudulent credit card.
Police placed both suspects under arrest on fraud-related charges. They were held in custody and were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
The suspects are reportedly from out of province and investigators believe they may be responsible for similar crimes inside and outside of Saint John.
Police request residents monitor their bank accounts regularly and sign up for real-time transaction alerts through their credit card company to identify and report potential fraud.
