Officials are investigating the assault of an inmate at Atlantic Institution in Renous.
The alleged incident at the maximum security federal institution happened on Nov. 23.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) said an inmate was taken to the hospital to receive treatment.
The assailant has been identified and “appropriate actions” have been taken, said the agency.
CSC said it will review the circumstances of the incident and take the appropriate measures.
