The Escape the Ace for Prostate charity event put on by Under Par Golf & Academy in Saint John was a huge success.
Co-owner Colin MacKenzie and staff member Brady Soucy had 72 hours to record a hole-in-one.
After 2,223 shots and destroying seven pairs of golf gloves, Brady eventually did just that.
“The challenge with the gloves was we were taping our fingers due to the blisters we were getting on our hand, and then the adhesive from the tape were seeping into the glove, which made the gloves feel like sandpaper,” said MacKenzie.
“It was a double-edged sword, but we managed.”
A total of $10,150 was raised in 72 hours, which works out to about $141 an hour. The money is being donated to the St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Prostate Clinic.
MacKenzie said he hopes the fundraiser will become an annual charity.
“Details to come in the coming months. It’s going to be a lot more challenging. People can keep calling us crazy because it’s going to become even harder.”
