A former New Brunswick senator has passed away.
Noël Kinsella died on Wednesday at the age of 84.
The Saint John native was first appointed to the Senate in 1990.
He served as Speaker from 2006 until his retirement in 2014.
Kinsella was also active in the human rights field, serving as chair of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission for 22 years.
He also spent time as the president of the Canadian Human Rights Foundation.
