A New Brunswick art teacher has achieved her dream of opening her own school.
For many years, Fabiola Martinez has offered art classes from her home in Quispamsis.
She became a familiar face in the region for her contributions to culture and artist community engagements.
Most notably with her efforts introducing the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration to Saint John.
Martinez is now able to achieve her dream of opening a school of arts in her community.
De las Artes, School of Arts, will be opening its doors this Saturday in Quispamsis.
The centre is an inclusive space designed to provide innovative experiences for individuals to explore various art forms in a kind and safe environment.
“The school will begin with just painting, but the idea is to grow the centre so other artists will have a space and share their knowledge,” said Martinez.
Woodcarving, clay throwing, and even dancing are some of the different styles of art Martinez wants to bring to the centre.
De Las Artes will celebrate its grand opening at 120 Millenium Drive from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
