Liam and Olivia have tied for New Brunswick’s most popular baby names in 2023, according to the Vital Statistics Office at Service New Brunswick.
Preliminary results from the office show there were 4,642 births registered in the province between Jan. 1 and Dec. 15.
Other popular baby names last year included Theodore, Emma, Noah, Benjamin, James, Charlotte, Oliver, William, Jacob and Violet.
“I want to congratulate everyone who welcomed a new addition to their family in 2023,” said Service New Brunswick Minister Mary Wilson in a news release.
“Our children are our future, and we must make decisions today that will help build a stronger province and economy for future generations.”
There were 6,187 babies born in New Brunswick in 2022. The most popular names that year were Noah, Liam, William, Jack, Thomas, Oliver, Benjamin, Olivia, Emma, Amelia, Jacob, Theodore, Owen, Henry, Logan, Levi, James, Violet, Charlotte and Hudson.
