The hospitality and tourism industries will be the focus of a job fair being held in Saint John on Thursday.
The Saint John Regional Job Developers Network has partnered with the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick (TIANB) for the event.
Luis Cardosa, interim CEO of the association, said there is a huge need for tourism workers especially as the spring and summer seasons are getting close.
“It’s very timely having it at the end of winter going into spring to make sure we get interested employees and get people on board and interested in a career in tourism,” said Cardoso.
Officials say registration is still available for employers and tables with chairs will be provided. Employers are asked to bring a tablecloth for their table, a marquee, marketing material, or other related information.
Cardoso said several employers and community organizations active in workforce development will be accepting resumes for current and future job openings.
“Be prepared to have an on-site interview because I know there are employers there who are looking to interview people right then and there, so have copies of your resume, get your interview skills up to speed and get ready to meet some employers who are looking to hire pretty quickly,” he said.
Job seekers are encouraged to register in advance, though it is not a requirement.
The job fair will take place at the Market Square Atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
