The importance of official languages was the focus of a federal Minister’s visit to Dieppe.
Randy Boissonault reinforced a $62.5 million core funding increase over five years for more than 300 official language community organizations across Canada.
The President of the Acadian Society of New Brunswick Nicole Arseneau Sluyter says they have been awaiting confirmation of the announced funds.
“Every Canadian needs to have the tools and resources to be able to express themselves and be served in the official language of their choice,” Minister Boissonault says.
This will cover several needs including the increased cost of living, rising operating costs, and recruitment and retention
During a stop on Friday morning at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre Minister Boissonnault met with local official language community organizations from New Brunswick.
“Protecting our official languages is at the heart of what we do every day,” Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe Ginette Petitpas Taylor added.
