The best women’s curlers on the planet are in Nova Scotia.
The Women’s World Championship begins at Centre 200 in Sydney this weekend.
It’s the first time our province has ever hosted the event.
Team Canada is led by Rachel Homan, who defeated Jennifer Jones in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts last month to qualify.
Homan’s rink is the top ranked team heading into the 13-team tournament.
She’s looking for her second career world championship victory.
The top six teams qualify for the playoff round.
Canada’s first game is Saturday at 2 p.m. against Sweden, then they’ll play Denmark at 7 p.m.
