Some very messy weather is headed to regions in New Brunswick on Saturday afternoon.
Areas including St. Stephen, Northern Charlotte County, Kouchibouguac National Park, Woodstock, Kent County and Bathurst are all under winter storm warnings.
Environment Canada is forecasting snowfall amounts of up to 30 centimetres, and three to six hours of freezing rain.
It’ll all start early Saturday afternoon as snow, change over to ice pellets, to freezing rain and then back to snow overnight before it all wraps up early Sunday morning.
Other regions in the province are also affected by this latest storm system. Regions including Saint John, Grand Manan, Coastal Charlotte County, Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County are under Rainfall warnings with up to 50 millimetres of rain expected.
St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County are also under a rainfall warning.
Up to 10 centimetres of snow is expected as the storm rolls in on Saturday afternoon, but as temperatures rise, it’ll change to heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding. There’s also the risk of some freezing rain during the transition. 50 millimetres could fall before the system rolls through by Sunday morning.
Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick remain under special weather statements, with up to 10 centimetres of snow beginning late this afternoon, changing to freezing rain and then to rain.
There’s a risk of freezing rain again on Sunday morning as the temperatures quickly fall below zero.
Travel could be impacted over the next twenty-four hours. NB Power and Saint John Power are monitoring conditions and for outages across the province as a result of the storm.
