COVID-19 and influenza hospitalizations in New Brunswick were down during the second full week of March.
The latest Respiratory Watch report shows 28 hospital admissions during the week of March 10.
That was compared to 44 hospitalizations reported the week before, according to Public Health.
Three people were admitted to an intensive care unit, up from one the previous week.
Three deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19. Two involved people aged 65 and over, while the third involved someone aged 45 to 64.
COVID activity
- Age 0-4: Zero hospitalizations and ICU admissions
- Age 5-19: Zero hospitalizations and ICU admissions
- Age 20-44: Zero hospitalizations and ICU admissions
- Age 45-64: Three hospitalizations, zero ICU admissions
- Age 65+: 12 hospitalizations, one ICU admission
There were 40 confirmed cases, compared to 60 the week before, and the test positivity rate fell to three per cent from five per cent.
However, the actual number of new cases is likely much higher as PCR tests are only available when requested by a primary care provider.
A total of six lab-confirmed outbreaks were declared, including four in nursing homes.

- Age 45-64: Zero hospitalizations and ICU admissions

There were 99 confirmed influenza cases, down from 145, and the test positivity rate fell to nine per cent from 12 per cent.
Officials reported one new influenza-like illness outbreak in schools and three lab-confirmed influenza outbreaks, including one in a nursing home.
