Mounties have laid more than two dozen charges in a vehicle-related fraud investigation in the Fredericton area.
Police received several reports of possible frauds at DMR Auto Sales in Richibucto Road between January 2020 and September 2021.
According to investigators, customers traded in vehicles at the former car dealership that still had an outstanding balance remaining on them.
The vehicles were allegedly sold to new owners without the balance being paid off, leaving the original owners with payments for both their new and old vehicles.
On Wednesday, a 49-year-old man was charged with 26 counts of fraud over $5,000 and one count of theft over $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to answer to the charges.
