Saint John’s Canada Games Aquatic Centre will play host to the Long Course N.B. Provincial Championships this weekend.
Officials with Swim NB expect 175 swimmers, representing various age groups and clubs from across New Brunswick, will take part.
The championships will unfold over three days, featuring morning preliminaries and evening finals sessions.
Special awards will be given to the highest overall scoring team, as well as the top swimmers for both Olympic and Paralympic programs.
Aquatic Centre Manager Ben Tremblay said he’s excited to host all of the fastest swimmers from around the province.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for swimmers to achieve some of their season-long goals, such as achieving new personal bests and reaching new higher time standards. For athletes graduating high school, this is an opportunity to show the universities what they can do,” added Tremblay.
Swim NB President Annie Robichaud said there should be some exciting action over the weekend.
“This meet is an exciting new experience for many swimmers who will have successfully achieved their first qualification standard to participate in such a meet. It will be exciting to see all those new rookie swimmers taking their first dip in a long course pool competition alongside the more experienced swimmers,” said Robichaud.
The meet takes place from Friday through Sunday. More details can be found by clicking here.
