A Sussex man is facing several charges after an RCMP officer was allegedly dragged during a traffic stop.
Mounties said they received a driving complaint regarding a vehicle near Court Street around 2 p.m. Thursday.
Police stopped the vehicle and tried to arrest the driver after seeing what they believed was crystal meth in plain view.
“As the officer was trying to remove the driver from the car, the driver resisted, started the vehicle, and quickly accelerated,” said an RCMP news release.
The officer was dragged about 15 to 20 metres before letting go, said police. They suffered minor injuries during the incident.
A 23-year-old man was arrested the following day. He is charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting a peace officer, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was later released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court in May.
