An 18-year-old woman living in Greater Moncton has been charged after RCMP say they rescued three human trafficking victims.
Officers were called to do a well-being check on a young woman at a Moncton residence on April 12.
Police said they later determined that the woman, who had been reported missing from Ontario, was a victim of human trafficking.
Four days later, on April 16, police received a call requesting assistance at a residence in Dieppe.
They found another young woman who had also been reported as missing from Ontario and was also believed to be a human trafficking victim.
Officers also located an adult woman from Quebec who they say was also a victim of human trafficking.
An 18-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and later appeared in court to face four charges:
- two counts of exercising control over the movements of a person under the age of 18 for the purpose of facilitating their exploitation;
- making child pornography; and
- advertising an offer to provide sexual services.
The woman remains in custody and has a bail hearing set for Friday afternoon.
RCMP Sgt. Eric Rousselle urged victims of human trafficking or anyone with information to reach out to police for help.
