Saint John police are investigating an alleged attempted sexual assault in the city’s Rockwood Park.
A woman walking on a trail near Lily Lake was passed by an unknown man around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday.
“She then heard footsteps approaching her from behind before being grabbed and taken to the ground by the unknown man who attempted to sexually assault her,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.
The woman was able to escape and contact the police. She did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
The suspect was not located or identified after a search by officers with the assistance of the canine unit.
Investigators describe the suspect as a skinny man, approximately 30 years old, with no teeth, brown hair, brown eyes, and stubble. He was also wearing dirty sweatpants and a t-shirt.
Saint John police said they will do extra patrols in the area. They also encourage the public to report any suspicious activity they observe.
