Envision Saint John’s board of directors has announced Andrew Beckett as the new chief executive officer.
Beckett has served as the interim CEO since September and will assume his new role in July.
“It is an absolute pleasure to play a leadership role with this influential organization that is committed to making the Saint John Region an even better place to live, work, invest in and visit,” said Beckett.
Al Walker, chair of Envision Saint John’s board of directors, said Beckett’s background in organizational leadership, strategic planning, financial management and business administration will be beneficial and make progress on several transformational goals for the Saint John Region.
“We are pleased to appoint Andrew as our next CEO as he brings a wealth of experience and expertise that is already proving invaluable in helping us maintain our momentum, and propel necessary economic growth and opportunity forward,” said Walker.
As a chartered professional accountant, Beckett’s background experience spans several decades, including 13 years as the commissioner of finance and deputy city manager at the City of Saint John. He also recently worked as vice president of finance and administration at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.
Beckett also holds a Masters of Arts in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University, a certificate in municipal administration, a certificate in public participation, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University.
He is also an active volunteer and currently sits on the board of directors for the Atlantica Centre for Energy and the Saint John Theatre Company, with previous experience including the Saint John Free Public Library, Marathon by the Sea, and East Coast Music Awards.
Beckett succeeds inaugural CEO Paulette Hicks, who left the position due to medical reasons.
