If you’re planning to take in a football game this weekend, bring along a non-perishable food item.
It’s for the Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive supporting Food Depot Alimentaire.
Donations will be accepted at tomorrow’s Maritime Football League semi-final between the Moncton Mustangs and Saint John Wanderers.
Food Depot Alimentaire serves food banks, community kitchens, school programs and other supportive agencies across New Brunswick.
The organization delivers to all food banks in New Brunswick, supporting 22,000 food bank client visits each month. In the last year, it served more than 1,100,000 meals, 30,000 of which were served to families.
Most needed items include:
- Fresh fruit, vegetables
- Canned goods including soup, fruit, vegetables, beans
- Canned lunch meat
- Dried pasta, pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, noodles
- Cereal, oatmeal and granola bars
- Instant pudding, apple sauce and peanut butter
- Sugar, tea, coffee, juice and juice boxes
- Diapers (especially larger sizes), baby food and formula
The game will be played starting at 5 pm at Rocky Stone Field in Moncton.
