Years of work to expand the ambulatory clinic at the Saint John Regional Hospital is now complete.
The newly renovated J.T. Clark Family Foundation Ambulatory Clinic celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.
Completely funded by donations, the expansion has doubled the province’s busiest ambulatory clinic from 7,000 to 14,700 square feet in size.
“The completion of this expansion is a testament to the incredible generosity of our donors and their unwavering dedication to our healthcare community,” said Shannon Hunter, president and CEO of the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
“This clinic will serve as a beacon of advanced health care, improving patient access and care, with over 42,000 visits projected this year.”
Through its Give Clinic 1 Expansion Campaign, the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation raised $12 million between 2017 and 2021 for the project.
After delays caused by the pandemic, construction finally got underway on the expanded clinic in March 2023.
The clinic will offer specialized services, such as dermatology, endocrinology, neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology and vascular surgery.
It features larger procedure rooms, enhanced-access exam rooms and new technologies that will give patients quicker access to their procedures.
Staff will also have a more ergonomic layout and eight rooms where they can chart and review patient records and perform other administrative tasks.
The expanded clinic will receive its first patients on Monday.
