We are heading into the first weekend of summer with a provincewide burn ban in effect.
The ban, which began Wednesday afternoon, will now remain in place until at least 2 p.m. Saturday.
Individual municipalities have their own restrictions, so you should check with your local municipal office.
It comes on the heels of a heat wave which broke temperature records in a number of communities.
According to the New Brunswick Fire Weather Indices, the fire danger was listed as high or very high across nearly the entire province, with some southern areas in the extreme category.
We should see some improvement in the fire danger later this weekend with rain expected on Sunday.
