One team and four individual athletes will be recognized in Saint John coming up this fall.
The Greater Saint John Sports Hall of Fame announced its latest inductees on Thursday.
Among them is the 1961 Saint John YMCA Flyers men’s basketball team, which captured the provincial, regional and national senior championships in the early 1960s.
Cross-country runner and track and field star Barry Britt, who grew up in Hampton, represented his country and province at the 2017 World Francophone Games. He won 10 medals at various Canadian championships.
Professional hockey player Randy Jones played eight seasons in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Winnipeg Jets.
Kaylee Kilpatrick played professional basketball in Ireland, Australia and Germany. She played for Team Canada at the Youth Olympics in Singapore. She also competed with Team New Brunswick at the Canada Summer Games.
John (Tip) O’Neill was a member of the 1906 World Series-champion Chicago White Sox, becoming the first Canadian to win baseball’s ultimate prize. He also spent time in the major leagues with the Boston Americans and Washington Senators.
The induction ceremony will take place at Lily Lake Pavillion on Saturday, Oct. 26. Ticket information will be released at a later date.
