Residents are being warned against drinking certain Silk and Great Value brand plant-based beverages.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says they may be contaminated with listeria.
Officials say the recall was triggered by findings during an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.
There have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products, according to the agency.
Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.
Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. The infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
Officials say the products have since been removed from store shelves. If you have them in your home, they should be thrown out or returned to the store for a refund.
You can find the full list of the affected products on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website.
