Saint John police say a 34-year-old man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested.
The accused was wanted for allegedly breaching the conditions of his statutory release.
It is allegedly he failed to report to the community correctional centre in Saint John as directed.
He was serving a 29-month sentence for drug possession, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with an order.
Police said the accused was located and arrested after a brief foot pursuit on Wednesday.
He was in possession of two shotgun shells, a firearm component, fentanyl patches, fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth and digital scales.
The accused is now charged with being unlawfully at large, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of ammunition contrary to a probation order.
He has been remanded on the new charges and his parole has been suspended.
