Nestlé Canada is recalling Gerber brand Oat Banana & Mango Baby Cereal due to possible Cronobacter contamination.
The 227-gram packages were sold online as well as in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and possibly other provinces and territories.
Health officials said food tainted with Cronobacter may not give off any warning signs, yet it can still make you unwell. Although Cronobacter is not typically associated with human illness, it can lead to severe or fatal infections in rare instances.
This harmful bacteria can result in rare bloodstream and central nervous system infections, as well as serious intestinal issues and blood poisoning, particularly in newborns.
If you suspect you’ve gotten sick from using a product that has been recalled, get in touch with your health-care provider and verify if you have any recalled items.
