Five more people will be invested with the Order of New Brunswick later this fall.
The latest were announced during New Brunswick Day celebrations in Fredericton on Monday.
Among them are Robert K. Irving of Moncton, co-CEO of J.D. Irving, Ltd. and president of the Moncton Wildcats.
Irving is being recognized for his community involvement, his generosity, and his altruism toward the province’s advancement.
John Leroux of Fredericton is being honoured for his vision, dedication and commitment to the province’s architecture and to the protection of historic buildings, and for his passion for building an improved quality of life for generations to come.
The art and architectural historian, curator, educator, artist and architect is currently the manager of collections and exhibitions at Fredericton’s Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
Carmen Gibbs of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, who is the executive director of the Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (Acadian Association of Professional Artists of New Brunswick), will also be invested.
She is being honoured for her deep sense of commitment and exceptional accomplishments, her collaborative spirit, and her profound desire to equip community organizations to work toward building a more open, vibrant and just society.
Karen Taylor from Woodstock is being recognized for her dedication to addressing injustice, improving other people’s lives, and supporting initiatives that make her community, province and country better.
Shippagan Mayor Kassim Doumbia is being honoured for promoting the inclusion of immigrants, his volunteer activities, his dedication to economic growth and cultural and community vitality, and his efforts to increase community engagement among youth.
This is the 23rd group to receive this honour, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a high level of excellence and achievement in their field.
More than 200 people have been named to the Order of New Brunswick since it was established in 2000.
