New Brunswick will have a strong showing at the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Five athletes from our province will be part of Team Canada at the nearly two-week event.
Para swimmer Danielle Dorris of Moncton will be competing in her third Paralympic Games.
Dorris won two medals in 2020 — gold in the 50m butterfly and silver in the 100m backstroke.
Dieppe’s Kamylle Frenette is back for her second Games as she competes in the para triathlon.
Alexandre Hayward of Quispamsis will make his Paralympic debut competing in para cycling.
Two New Brunswickers will compete in wheelchair basketball: Colin Higgins of Rothesay and Desiree Isaac-Pictou of Ugpi’Ganjig (Eel River Bar) First Nation.
Higgins competed in the 2020 Games while this is the first appearance for Isaac-Pictou.
A total of 126 Canadian athletes will compete in 18 sports during the Paralympics. A dedicated team of 117 coaches and National Sport Organization support staff will be working with the athletes.
The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games take place from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
