A partnership between the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick and Shannex’s Parkland in the Valley is in full swing.
The YMCA Quispamsis Child Care Centre is a fresh addition located on Millennium Drive, nestled in the Parkland in the Valley community.
This area is also home to more than 200 seniors, with 130 enjoying independent living in retirement apartments and another 72 residing in Embassy Hall, a Shannex enhanced care licensed nursing facility.
Shilo Boucher, the president and CEO of the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, said the Quispamsis Child Care Centre aims to deliver outstanding early learning and child care.
Additionally, it serves as a venue for children and seniors to connect, promoting a vibrant community spirit and mutual respect.
“This new location is a testament to our ongoing commitment to supporting families and fostering community connections. We look forward to offering a welcoming and enriching environment for children, where they can learn, grow, and thrive,” said Boucher.
Officials from the YMCA highlighted that the centre is not just about providing excellent early learning and childcare, but also seeks to create a welcoming atmosphere where children and seniors can engage with each other, nurturing a strong community and a culture of respect.
“Through the partnership, we’ll establish a variety of meaningful intergenerational activities which are fulfilling for participants and leave a lasting impression on everyone involved,” said Derek Green, vice president, of New Brunswick operations at Shannex.
