Saint John police have arrested a man after what they describe as a dangerous driving incident in the city’s north end.
Just before 9 p.m. Monday, officers received a request for help from another police force to locate a vehicle in connection with a man believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
“The vehicle was spotted multiple times in the north end of the city but attempts to stop it were unsuccessful,” police said in a news release Tuesday.
Officers eventually found the vehicle abandoned on Westfield Road and located the 26-year-old suspect on Bridge Street.
He was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act, as well as for dangerous operation of a conveyance, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to stop for police.
The accused was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to return to court in November.
