The Saint John Sea Dogs have added veteran experience to their hockey operations staff.
Tim Archambault has been appointed to the organization in the role of scout/prospect development. During his playing career, Archambault represented the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains in the Quebec Under-18 AAA Hockey League, where he held the position of captain.
In his coaching career, Archambault is now embarking on his fourth season as head coach of the Saint-Laurent Patriotes in the Ligue de Hockey Collégiale du Québec (QCHL D1 league). He achieved a regular season title in 2021-22 and a playoffs championship in 2022-23, in addition to successfully guiding numerous players to advance to higher levels.
In his role as a development coach, he has worked with under-18, major junior and university players over the last few years, using video analysis and on-ice sessions to enhance their skills. He will work alongside the Sea Dogs scouting staff to prepare for the QMJHL Draft along with keeping close relationships with the team’s prospects.
“Tim has been someone I’ve been keeping my eyes on for a while as he’s been gaining experience in coaching and development. I remember scouting him as a player and loving his work ethic,” said Sea Dogs General Manager Anthony Stella. “Now to have him join our staff is a boost and will only make us better.”
Normand Poisson, who will serve as a scout for the team, brings a wealth of experience with over 35 years of NHL and CHL scouting.
In the 1993-94 season, Poisson kicked off his journey in hockey as an amateur scout for the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL (currently the Colorado Avalanche). He later became the scouting director for the Halifax Mooseheads in their first season in the QMJHL.
Poisson’s scouting expertise also led him to work with the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers (currently the Winnipeg Jets) and the Buffalo Sabres.
He is currently serving as a physical education instructor at the Collège de Lévis, where he has also dedicated the past five years to being an assistant coach for the under-18 school hockey team.
“I was looking to add a different perspective to our scouting staff and Normand fits that,” said Stella. “With 22 years of NHL experience, all of us can learn things from him and that’s important in growing as a staff. This addition brings some added experience to our group.”
Poisson will also be assisting in scouting for the QMJHL Draft along with special scouting assignments from Stella.
