The Agriculture Alliance of NB (AANB) is gearing up for the 24th Annual Open Farm Day.
The Sunday, Sept. 15 event offers a special chance for New Brunswickers to connect with local farmers and see their dedication and efforts up close.
Communications Manager Dylan LeBlanc said a total of 18 farms are taking part in the initiative, with three of them set to host virtual events. The participating farms include a diverse mix of dairy, fruits, vegetables and fish.
“It could be going to a dairy farm and seeing the cows get milked or attending an apple orchard and different activities like that,” said LeBlanc. “There’s really things for the whole family to do and it’s a very educational day.”
A number of the farms are also wheelchair accessible.
AANB also has a virtual passport that gives children of all ages the chance to win a giveaway package from Atlantic Open Farm Day, while also being able to complete fun activities.
“New Brunswick farmers work hard to provide the delicious food we enjoy every day. Open Farm Day is a great opportunity to visit a local farm and learn where our food comes from,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Margaret Johnson.
“It’s also an ideal chance to thank the dedicated New Brunswickers who work on our farms and expose urban families to rural activities and lifestyle. I encourage everyone to take part.”
