It will soon be much easier to book an appointment for bloodwork and specimen collection.
Horizon Health has announced a new pilot project launching in the Saint John health region.
Starting on Monday, patients with a lab referral from their care provider can book appointments online.
This will apply to the Saint John Regional Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Kennebecasis Valley Health Services, Sussex Health Centre and Charlotte County Hospital.
Appointments will be available on weekdays to coincide with the operating hours at the specific facility.
To book an appointment, patients will need to confirm they have a lab referral or that it has been sent to the specimen collection department.
Patients will still be able to book an appointment by phone if that is their preferred method.
Officials expect the service will launch in other areas of the province before the end of the year.
Horizon also has a self-booking option for patients and their partners in care for X-ray appointments.
